Describe what you enjoy most about being a member of the Central Iowa Grants Professionals Association: The best part about GPA is the relationships and connections I’ve made, both on a professional and personal level.
What you love about your job? I love my job because every day is different. I work with amazing people who are passionate about education and changing lives. I am constantly learning from them and they are involving me in new and interesting projects all the time.
Favorite vacation you’ve ever had? My favorite vacation ever was back in the 90s, spending two weeks in Portugal and Spain with my sister, being part of a wedding and then jumping in a rental car and exploring. The wedding was a blast and attended by people from many countries. Afterwards we saw Roman ruins, toured facilities where Port wine is made, sat on amazing beaches, ate amazing food, and visited Santiago de Compostela which is the ending spot for the famous Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) pilgrimage across the north of Spain.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about education and helping ensure that individuals have the opportunity to learn, grow and develop to their full potential. My heroes are the teachers and educators who make a difference in students’ lives daily at any level of education. When I volunteer in a classroom I am reminded what an impact a good teacher can have.
